Pakistan Petrol Pumps Strike Notification from PPDA: The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) recently made an important announcement regarding their decision to go on a nationwide strike starting July 22. The strike is set to continue indefinitely, and it may lead to a potential shortage of petrol all across the country.
The reason behind this move, as explained by PPDA Chairman, Abdul Sami Khan, is the significant losses the association is facing due to the illegal sale of petrol and diesel smuggled from Iran. To address this issue, the PPDA has also put forth a demand for a 5% increase in dealers’ commissions.

The association had previously reached out to the Minister of Petroleum, Musadik Malik, by sending a letter highlighting these concerns. However, unfortunately, they did not receive any response from him.
Currently, the government allocates a commission of 2.4 per cent per litre to the dealers. This has been causing financial hardships for petrol pumps with low sales, and the situation has been further aggravated by the increased sales of smuggled petrol and diesel from Iran.
In light of the potential closure of petrol pumps due to the nationwide strike, it is advised for everyone to fill their tanks in advance to avoid inconvenience during this period.
