The Government was organized the AJK Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Mirpur in 1973 in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier than that Azad Kashmir was built-in in under the protective authority of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore.
