The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) turned down a petition of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), announcing the Baldiyati Election Karachi 2023 Result and Hyderabad will be held as per schedule on January 15.
The verdict was pronounced by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on an MQM-P petition challenging the decision of the agency for the prospective use of two separate local electoral rolls in the upcoming elections simultaneously.

Sikander Sultan Raja, the chief election commissioner, thanked the province administration, law enforcement organizations, the interior ministry, and the Pakistan Army for their cooperation with the election staff in a statement released after the conclusion of voting.

Ghulam Nabi Memon, the inspector general of Sindh, praised the police, the Rangers, and other law enforcement organizations for their efforts in maintaining order during the elections.

Officials said that, with the exception of a few small altercations involving party members, voting in Karachi went off quite peacefully despite strict security measures.
Karachi Additional IG Javed Alam Odho stated that “apart from a few small occurrences, no significant adverse incident was recorded from anywhere in the metropolis.”
A three-member bench of the electoral body, headed by CEC Raja, had reserved the verdict on Friday.
