The 17th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally 2022 has been started at eight centuries-old historical Derawar Fort in the Cholistan Desert on Friday, 11th February to cover a distance of 231 kilometers of stock category.

Cholistan Jeep Rally 2022
The Cholistan Desert Rally is often known as the Cholistan Jeep Rally. However, the word “Jeep” has nothing to do with the international vehicle brand. This motorsport event is neither sponsored by Jeep, nor the rally is specified for Jeep vehicles only. In fact, in Pakistan, people often use the word “Jeep” to denote off-road vehicles and SUVs.
The event has been organised by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab for the past 15 years. Over 100 racers from all over the country participate in this event of desert racing in Pakistan and the number of participants grows each year. Derawar Fort, which is about 45 kilometres away from the racing track, serves as the camp office for the racing event.
Cholistan Jeep Rally 2022 Schedule
During the rally, the vehicles cover a distance of over 220-kilometre racing track in the arid desert region. It’s an annual event that lasts for two to three days. This year Cholistan Jeep Rally is going to be held from 13th till 16th of February. The event will be concluded with a closing ceremony where the winner and runners up of the event will be awarded a trophy, cash prizes, and different types of souvenirs. Event Venue is Derawer Fort (Cholistan)
The event venue is Derawer Fort (Cholistan). Approximately 95 km south of the city of Bahawalpur, the forty bastions of Derawar are visible for many miles in the Cholistan Desert. From Bahawalpur get to the GT Toad towards Karachi. From Ahmedpur East Bypass take the left turn towards Dera Nawab Cantt. Before Entering Dera Nawab Cantt take Left turn and then right. Due to opening of Motorway, the distances reduced.
Total Participants in Cholistan Jeep Rally 2022
He revealed that the total number of male racers participating in the 17th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally was 135.
He said that the racers would cover a distance of 231 kilometers in the stock category and 500 kilometers in the prepared category for Cholistan Jeep Rally 2022.
Several sports events including wrestling, paragliding, taekwondo, and others have also been arranged in connection with the jeep rally.
Commissioner, Bahawalpur Division, Capt. (retd) Zafar Iqbal has said that the arrival of people and tourists in the last Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally in 2021 was 0.4 million. He added that all three districts of the Bahawalpur division were declared the venue of the events pertaining to the jeep rally.

The second vehicle drove away on track of 17th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally 2022 by Zain Muhammad to cover a distance of 231 kilometers of the stock category.
Defense Champion, Sahibzada Sultan also ran away his vehicle on track of 17th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally 2022 to cover a distance of 231 kilometers of stock category.
Over 130 vehicles including jeeps and motorbikes have been participating in the 17th Cholistan Jeep Rally 2022. Manager, Motor Sports Event, Tourism Development Corporation, Fayyaz Ahmed told journalists that eight women racers had also been participating in the 17th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally.
