Yes, All Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) Including Karachi has announced a school holiday tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, for private schools throughout Pakistan due to the ongoing protests after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Due to the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and subsequent protests, private schools in Pakistan have been closed today. The All Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) made the decision due to the “emergency conditions” across the country.

The federation’s president, Kashif Mirza, stated in a video message that a decision on when regular classes will resume will be made after discussions on Wednesday. Mirza also appealed to all students, teachers, staff, and parents to be cautious during the country’s current situation.

However, matriculation exams will proceed as scheduled, according to Board of Secondary Education Karachi Controller Examination Habibullah Sahag. The Biology exam will take place at 9 am today, followed by the English exam for the matric’s general group at 2:30 pm.

Protests erupted in several cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan, following the arrest of Imran Khan.

The PTI called on its supporters to protest and “block all roads, close all shops.” In Karachi, protesters clashed with police near Nursery, throwing stones, setting fire to police vehicles, tearing down street lights, and damaging a bus. Reports indicate that police fired teargas shells at the demonstrators. Protesters also caused damage to public property in other cities, including Rawalpindi and Lahore.
