Punjab Government's Decision to Impose Section 144 Notification

Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested by Rangers personnel on the instructions of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The case alleges that Khan, along with his wife and other PTI leaders, made a settlement between his government and a property tycoon, resulting in a loss of £190 billion to the national exchequer. The arrest took place at Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan has led to protests by the party’s workers and supporters, who have taken to the streets to demonstrate against the incumbent government. As a result, the Government of Punjab has imposed Section 144 across the province to prevent any untoward incidents.
