Amid ongoing violent protests in Pakistan sparked by the arrest of Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), all Cambridge exams, including O-level and A-level, scheduled for May 11 have been cancelled.

The British Council released a statement on Wednesday announcing the cancellation of all Cambridge International exams, Pearson, University of London, ACCA, and IELTS exams across Pakistan due to the developing situation in the country.

Khurram Shah, the accounts relationship manager of the British Council, confirmed that all morning and evening papers scheduled for May 11 have been cancelled throughout the country.

All Cambridge exams including O-level, A-level scheduled for May 11 cancelled

Arslan Siddiqui, the spokesperson for Cambridge International Assessment, explained that cancelled papers are not retaken, and marks for those papers are given on the basis of the first paper and other performances of the students.

Cambridge International’s Country Director for Pakistan, Uzma Yusuf, stated that the exams had been cancelled to ensure the safety of the students and teachers, which is their first priority.

Earlier, the British Council had also cancelled all papers scheduled for May 10 due to uncertainty in the country following Imran Khan’s arrest.

After private schools announced the closure of educational institutions, the British Council issued a statement that exams which were to be held on May 12 (Wednesday) in both morning and evening shifts have been cancelled.
